Are you an entrepreneur and/or developer who believes in the power of the Blockchain? If so, you may want to move fast to register with Hackcoin Blockchain Hackathon, which is hosting its London event on June 20 to connect with like-minded individuals to create solutions for anything that can benefit from the tamper-resistant nature of the Blockchain.
Suggested “hacks” from the press release include systems like Open Mustard Seed that can help people manage their online identities using biometrics, Smart Bonds and contracts, Blockchain voting examples and better management of rewards programs. Participants are encouraged to use their favorite Blockchain protocols, including the ones used by Bitcoin, NXT and Eris. Prizes will be handed out for the best hacks to encourage implementation of projects created at the Hackathon.
One of Hackcoin’s goals is to build on the success of PayExpo earlier this month, which saw a considerable amount of interest in the possibilities surrounding the Blockchain and especially projects that are making use of NXT-based technology, such as new NXT plugins for crowdfunding and an online marketplace.
NXT Crowdfunding: A Preview
This may simply be representative of the increased interest in Blockchain-based technologies that can provide a reliable, tamper-proof way to record digital communications, transactions and ownership of assets. The Blockchain provides an undeniable way to inspect what happened at any given time, so despite my occasional joking about a possible Judge Judy case, this kind of database can provide the needed proof that a “smart” contract reversed itself because somebody didn’t keep up their end of the deal. The Hackcoin Blockchain Hackathon could help develop the needed infrastructure by distributing seed money provided by sponsors like UBS and Supernet to future project leaders in this niche.
