Cementation Canada Announced as Finalist in #DisruptMining

NORTH BAY – Integra Gold Corp. and Goldcorp Inc. have announced the finalists for #DisruptMining, a global competition designed to showcase individuals, groups and companies that are using exponential technology and disruptive concepts to tackle the vast challenges faced by the mining industry. From 153 submissions Cementation Canada was selected as one of five finalists to pitch their revolutionary innovation in a “shark-tank” format to a panel of judges that include Rob McEwen, former founder of Goldcorp and Robert Herjavec, a judge on ABC Television Network’s Shark Tank. Each finalist will have five minutes to pitch and defend their idea to the panel and demonstrate how their idea or technology has the potential to #DisruptMining. The winner will be awarded $1,000,000 for a proof of concept at one of Goldcorp’s mines or investment in the winning technology.

Cementation Canada’s submission is Injection Hoisting. Using a combination of existing and proven crushing, pumping and slurry technologies, Cementation has developed a proof of concept model for process injection hoisting that would eliminate the need for mine shaft production hoisting or trucking, by transporting ore to the surface using a pump driven pipeline loop. The technology is adaptable to all mining methods and would substantially reduce energy consumption and ventilation requirements. The team at Cementation “builds mines” from design through to construction and this invention has the potential to revolutionize underground mine development to the benefit of the entire industry.

The sold-out live finale will take place on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Carlu in Toronto during the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention.
